Brent transferred and earned an Associate of Science degree from Shelby State Community College in 1996, where he was an All-Conference Baseball Player. Brent signed with the University of Mississippi to play Football and Baseball.  He was a two-year athlete and letterman winner in Football at the University of Mississippi.

After college, Brent began working as a residential and commercial builder.  He is a General Contractor in Florida and owns Maverick General Contractors, LLC in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.  Brent is married to Christy Pate McDowell of Pensacola, Florida and they are blessed with two sons. The McDowells are a Christian Family and have attended Village Baptist Church since 2000.

Brent chose to coach in the East Coast Sox organization to inspire players to become better young men, better ball players, and most importantly, to be a living witness for young guys to have a personal relationship through salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ.
