buddy turnage

east coast sox 2026 scout - Mississippi head coach

Buddy Turnage is returning for his 4th year coaching with the East Coast Sox.

In 3 years as a High School assistant coach and nine years as a High School head coach (current overall record 168-111, 60% winning percentage), the teams won two district championships, made two semifinal appearances, and broke school records for single season wins with 24 (Chalmette) and 28 (Belle Chasse). I was named District Coach of the Year twice, St. Bernard Parish Coach of the Year twice, Westbank Coach of the Year, and 4A Louisiana State Coach of the Year. In my seven years as the pitching coach at Loyola University of New Orleans, I led the pitching staff to 5 out of the 6 lowest ERAs in school history, while breaking the school record for wins with 35. During my tenure, I was part of two out of the three winning records since the program started up again in 1991.

In 10 years as a High School assistant football coach, the teams I coached won three district championships, had a 10-0 and 9-1 regular season, and won a State Championship.

In 2 years as a High School assistant basketball coach, the team went from 6 wins in year one to 18 wins in year two.
