Coach Lance Walker is enterning his 2nd year coaching with the East Coast Sox.
Lance currently is the AD at Hewitt Trussville HighS chool. In his role as Athletics Director for Trussville City Schools, Walker oversees the athletics program which includes 23 Varsity sports. Walker provides leadership to evaluate and continuously improve the program, while ensuring that programs comply with Alabama High School Athletic Association rules and regulations.
In an effort to provide communication to the community, Walker created the athletics website www.hthuskies.com that averages 172,000 hits a year. The weekly newsletter
“Tracking the Huskies” highlights teams and coaches and is a communication tool that is widely accessed.
Hewitt-Trussville teams have combined for six state championships and nine state runner-up finishes since 2016.

*Girls Cross Country finished 3rd at the State Championship meet in 2020 and 2021 (Best finish in school history)

*Girls Flag Football won the State Championship in 2021 (Inaugural year for AHSAA program)
*Girls Basketball advanced to the State Championship game in 2019 and 2021 (Best finish in school history)
*Boys Bowling advanced to the State Semifinals in 2021 and 2022 (Best finish in school history)
*Boys Indoor Track & Field won the State Championship in 2021 (First time in school history)
*Boys Indoor Track & Field State Runner-Up in 2017
*Girls Indoor Track & Field won the State Championship in 2021 (Second time in school history)
*Girls Indoor Track & Field State Runner-Up in 2022
*Wrestling finished 3rd at the AHSAA State Championships in 2021 and 2022
*Baseball won the State Championship in 2016 and finished as the State Runner-Up in 2018 and 2022
*Softball won the State Championship in 2019 and 2021. They were the State Runner-Up in 2022
*Boys Golf reached the Final 4 in 2021
*Girls Golf team member Molly Davidson was the 7A State Champion in 2022
*Boys Soccer reached the 7A playoffs in 2022 for the first time in program history
*Boys Outdoor Track & Field was the State Runner-Up in 2021
*Girls Outdoor Track & Field was the State Runner-Up in 2021
After graduating from HTHS in 2001, Walker attended the University of Alabama and earned a BS degree in Communications in 2005 and a Master's degree in Sports Business Management in 2006.
Walker was a scholarship member of the Men's Golf team at Alabama from 2001-2005 under Hall of Fame coach Jay Seawell. He was named to the SEC Honor Roll four times and was named to the Southeastern Conference Good Works Team in 2005 and 2006.
Walker worked in the Bill Battle Academic Center at the University of Alabama from May 2006-February 2017. There he served as Assistant Director. His tasks included coordinating all areas of academic support for the Football and Men's Basketball teams.
In addition to their academic success, Alabama's football team won four national titles and five SEC Championships since 2009. During his time at Alabama, Walker worked with many successful coaches and administrators including Nick Saban, Billy Napier, Kirby Smart, Jim McElwain, Kevin Steele, Bill Battle, and Mal Moore.
While working at the University of Alabama, Walker volunteered with the Crimson Tide Foundation soliciting donations and assisting with events and facility dedications.
Before his time in Athletic Student Services, Walker worked in the office of Athletic Media Relations at Alabama. There he contributed stories for the football and basketball programs to increase sales. He also assisted in the day-to-day operations including media releases, press conferences, public relations, and event management.
Walker and his wife Lori have two sons, Andrew (14) and Carson (10).
