Coach Hugh Walker will be entering his 2nd season with the East Coast Sox.

My name is Hugh Walker and I’m excited to begin this season with the Sox!

I am originally from Jacksonville, AR but have lived the last 28 years in Jonesboro, AR.

My baseball career began right out of high school when I was selected in the 1st round in the 1988 draft by the Kansas City Royals as an 18th overall pick.  I played with them through various levels, including AAA and Big-League Camp. After playing professionally for 10 seasons, I completed my degree at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR in 2004. In 2008, I began working for the San Francisco Giants as an area scout and was on staff for three World Series Championships- 2010, 2012, and 2014.  Notable MLB draft picks of mine include Connor Gillispie, Mike Kickham, Tyler Rogers, Cody Hall, Chris Stratton, Ryan Lollis, and Brett Bochy.  I resigned my scouting position in 2015 to be with my wife and focus on raising my 2 boys who are both active in football and baseball.  My wife has her master’s degree in communication Disorders and works in a preschool for kids with disabilities as a speech-language pathologist.  I have stayed active in the baseball community by coaching both of my sons, including travel ball and Legion Baseball. Currently, I work for Valley View Public Schools in ALE as a DEP/facilitator. I also am the director for elementary travel basketball.  I look forward to this season and can’t wait to meet this new team. GO SOX!
